The restaurant at Antsanitia Resorts focuses on local produce from Madagascar: fruit, vegetables, grains, spices, meat and fish. The menu guarantees fresh, locally sourced dishes, with vegetarian options always available.
We are currently creating our own vegetable garden. The future vegetable garden will allow us to grow a variety of plants and fresh produce such as papaya trees, lemon trees, mint, aubergines and other local crops suited to our climate.
Our garden is home to a wide variety of plants, which we love to introduce to our guests. A free booklet is available at reception to help them discover the local flora. Another booklet introduces the fauna, including the lemurs, birds and reptiles found in our garden. Our local guides are always ready to share their knowledge and accompany you on an exploration of the garden! Please do not hesitate to speak to them to find out more!
Furthermore, do not miss a visit to the lemur house in the heart of the forest, a place to learn more about these iconic species! Look up, and you are sure to spot many species of birds!
We are reducing our energy consumption by gradually replacing our outdoor lighting with solar-powered lamps and by adopting energy-saving practices. Outdoor plants are selected for their hardiness and low water requirements.
Our remote site is working towards gradual energy self-sufficiency. We have already installed solar panels, which cover 65 to 70 per cent of our electricity needs.
Our guests are also encouraged to adopt energy-saving practices, in particular by systematically switching off lights and air conditioning and by limiting water usage.
We are fortunate to live in an exceptional environment that we must preserve. We take care to limit the use of chemicals and to favour natural products wherever possible.
In Madagascar, where waste management is complex, we work with Madacompost, which collects our residual plastic and aluminium waste, as well as our batteries, to store and recycle them.
Our organic waste, meanwhile, is turned into compost and used in the Antsanitia vegetable garden!
In the restaurant, all purchases are made in bulk wherever possible, and our buffets are free from single-use items.
The hotel showcases Malagasy culture through its handcrafted décor, local products in the shop, and the organisation of regular cultural evenings.
Finally, we actively support the work of the AMADA association, which operates in the fields of health, education and the environment. The aim is to improve living conditions in the village of Antsanitia. We invite our guests to discover their activities and to contribute to their work on the ground. Please contact us if you would like to find out more and help us with our initiatives!
